DECONSTRUCTING THE 5-Ws & H
WHY?

Why am I a Caregiver?
My Mother had a stroke and is unable to live alone. However, she is not a candidate for a Nursing Home; therefore, she needs a Caregiver.
It is the right thing to do. It is the right thing to do for her; but I’m not too sure if it’s the right thing to do for me.
There are only two of us Siblings left and my Brother is not going to be her Caregiver. No need to delve any further.
I believe that God has placed me here at this time, in this place, for this reason.
My Mother needs me and there is no one else. For a variety of reasons, there is no one else.
I don’t believe that I had a choice. And even if I did have a choice, I’m not convinced that I still wouldn’t be here.
Everything happens for a reason.
It seems to be part of God’s Plan for My Life.
I love my Mother and I know that I am making a positive difference in her life.
Society expects me to be a Caregiver under these exact circumstances. America doesn’t have a viable plan for the latter years of people who have worked hard to live the American Dream.
WHY?
Why am I a Caregiver.
I am a Caregiver because, as Rosalynn Carter so eloquently said,
“There are only four kinds of people in the world—those who have been Caregivers, those who are currently Caregivers, those who will be Caregivers, and those who will need Caregivers.”
